MOTOLIV · ABOUT US

Thoughtful design for everyday living. Eastern wisdom × Western design × modern living.

A home should never belong to a single culture.
It can hold the quiet restraint of the East and the rational order of Western design — the warmth of tradition, and the real, varied shape of life today.

01 — Our Belief

A home doesn’t belong to one culture

A thoughtful home is never the property of a single culture. It can carry Eastern reserve and generous empty space, yet keep the reason and order of Western design — it can hold the warmth of traditional living, and still fit the way we truly live now. MOTOLIV began with this belief.

Eastern Wisdom Restraint, balance and the poetry of empty space.
Western Design Proportion, function, material and detail.

Two different languages — one quiet pursuit:
to make life gentler, and space more meaningful.

02 — Brand Film

Our story, in motion

From a single idea above the clouds to the objects that fill everyday life — one film about the home MOTOLIV is trying to help you build.

03 — Where It Began

An idea that began on a flight

In the autumn of 2023, our founder flew from Shanghai to Copenhagen. Through ten quiet hours above the clouds, he turned the pages of design magazines — and turned one question over in his mind.

Why do East and West understand “home” so differently, yet both know how to make us feel at ease?

The East teaches restraint, balance and empty space — a table, a lamp, a single object is enough to give a room its quiet order. Western design asks after proportion, function, material and detail, so everything earns its reason to exist.

Can we bring Eastern wisdom and Western design
into the everyday of modern life?

— one line written in a notebook mid-flight. It became the beginning of MOTOLIV.

04 — What We Blend

More than a meeting of styles

We don’t paste Eastern motifs onto Western forms. True fusion lives deeper — in the common ground beneath three ways of thinking.

Eastern Wisdom

Quiet by design

  • An understanding of nature
  • The pursuit of balance
  • Empty space as a material

Western Design

Reason in every detail

  • Proportion and scale
  • Function first
  • Material and craft

Modern Living

Built for real life

  • Everyday comfort
  • Utility that lasts
  • Freedom and personality

When the three meet, an object
finally feels at home in its time.

05 — Design for Living

Design that truly enters life

Design should not live only in showrooms and catalogues. We care about what happens after an object arrives — whether it quietly makes an ordinary day better.

The question we ask of everything we make and curate is simple: once it enters your home, does life actually become a little better?

  1. 01

    A table

should suit the rhythm of your everyday.

  2. 02

    A lamp

should make the quiet hours of night gentler.

  3. 03

    A ceramic

should bring a little ritual to the simplest meal.

  4. 04

    An object

should belong to your space — not merely look good on display.

06 — Our Name

MOTOLIV — momentum for the everyday

From furniture and decor to ceramics and everyday objects, MOTOLIV brings together pieces that balance design, utility and warmth. We don’t chase short-lived trends, or define a single “ideal home” — every home is different.

Our work is not to tell you what home should be. It is to offer more choices worth choosing.

Let considered design enter the everyday — and give each ordinary day a little more texture.

07 — The Beginning

The story has only just begun

In 2024, MOTOLIV came online — quietly, without fanfare or complicated manifestos. We simply choose one piece after another, hoping they find their way into different countries, cities and homes.

01

A lamp

to light one person’s quiet evening.

02

A table

to hold a family’s dinner together.

03

A small object

to make an ordinary corner feel a little more like you.

These small, quiet changes
are how we understand a life.

08 — Our Wish

We don’t want to redefine home —
only help you find the one that fits

Wherever you live in the world,
home deserves to be taken seriously.

Thoughtful design for everyday living.
